Our Term 4 Basket Weaving class will focus on Coil Weaving using a Blanket Stitch.
At this workshop, you will be introduced to different fibres for weaving, and learn how to harvest, dry, and store them.
Participants will learn all of the skills needed to create their very own woven basket or bowl using raffia and the coil weaving technique.
This is a great workshop for those wanting to deepen their connection to the natural world around them, and to re-member this ancient way of being.
All materials are supplied. There will be a selection of brightly coloured and natural raffia available to use. You will have complete freedom to choose the shape, dimensions and colour of your weaving.
Coil Weaving is a great stitch to learn and perfect for beginners. It can be used to make smaller shapes perfect for earrings or other adornments, as well as larger vessels and baskets. Attendees will have enough time to get started and master the technique, but will need to complete their basket at home.
We’d also love to encourage anyone who has attended previous workshops to bring along their weaving for show and tell! We’d really love to see how they have progressed.
Join our experienced and amazing instructors (Yonke and Helen) in a friendly and welcoming environment.
