ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

*INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES LEVEL 1 

This course will include practical and theory based activities. You will become familiar with a broad variety of topics covered including an overview of nature, plant ecology, birds, insects, animals, fungus, soil and geology. You will develop essential knowledge, understanding and appreciation of our natural environment in a great learning experience but also in enjoyable sessions that will get you outside and into our wonderful habitat. 
Some of the topics include:

  • Biosecurity in relation to weeds, pests, OHS, and field hygiene
  • Plants - orchids, grasses, shrubby, annual wildflowers and what they support, what else they do - protect soil, provide habitat - identify and classify. Weeds.
  • How to record nature and the importance
  • Interactions between plants and animals and their environment
  • Better understanding of ‘back yard’ habitat
  • Understand field assessments & recording of data entries online, keeping
  • permanent records online
  • Value of volunteering to learn more
  • Career opportunities in the field. 

 *INTRODUCTION TO FUNGI AND LAND MANAGEMENT

This online course will cover the fundamentals of mycology, identifying and cultivating fungi, human uses for fungi and land management with fungi. The course will be available in modules for people who only want to take part of the course; everyone who attends any part of the course will have access to the pathways in mycology module. Classes will be live and recorded for people to re-watch later. Discounted practical sessions in identification, cultivation and lab techniques will also be available depending on interest and COVID safety. 

We are running the course  together with our partner organisation MYCOmmunity Applied Mycology (www.myco.org.au) which is a community group that does awareness-raising, training and research around fungi.

  • Fungal conservation, land-management and citizen science - 8 hours, 4 weeks

NATIONALLY ACCREDITED FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATES

FOOD HANDLERS CERTIFICATE ONLINE COURSES 

You can do your certificate online and start anytime and also have the convenience of finishing it in your own time. This course can be done online or by correspondence delivered by the registered training organisation, “CFT International.” You print out your qualification certificate when you have completed all the modules required. Simply come into the centre and fill in the enrolment form and pay the fee. We will then email you a link to commence the course online.

NATIONALLY ACCREDITED FOOD SAFETY - STUDY ONLINE - START ANY TIME

We provide several nationally accredited food safety courses in association with a registered training organisation.

Food Safety Training now has two components: a series of  questions to assess the student’s  knowledge and a assessed workplace practical skills assignment.

You can do your certificate online and start any time and also have the convenience of  finishing it in your own time. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can complete this part of the course in the Centre’s computer lab.

The workplace assignment is completed on the job, in a real or simulated workplace environment, and observed by a suitably qualified 3rd party observer.

Simply come into the centre and fill in the enrolment form and pay the fee. We will then email you a link to commence the course online.

The cost will depend on the level of certificate and whether you need to use the Centre's kitchen as a simulated workplace with an assessor.  Level 1 is $95.00 Call us for more details.

FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISOR: REFRESHER
Course codes: HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005, HLTFSE007


REFRESHER COURSE - ONLINE.
Follow basic Food Safety principles. Apply and monitor Food Safety requirements. Oversee the day-to-day implementation of Food Safety in the workplace. Choose this course if you already have a Food Safety
Supervisor Certificate and need to update your training. As this is a condensed 'Refresher Course,' students
must provide a copy of their previously completed FSS Certificate.

Course Cost: $220 (inclusive).

The Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) unit aims to provide liquor service staff with the knowledge and awareness necessary to responsibly serve alcohol in a licensed premises. RSA certification is mandatory for licensees and staff selling, offering or serving liquor for general, on-premises, late night and packaged liquor licences.

WARNING - If you are planning to work in Victoria you MUST complete a VCGLR accredited course from an approved RTO, We use an approved RTO of high standing and many years of service provision for our online Food Safety (and RSA) courses. They are approved to issue a VCGLR certificate that is required to work in the industry.

 

USI- UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFICATION

All students must have a Unique Student Identification number, and you are required to provide it for a certificate to be issued.
